The Air Force released some neat facts about the new CC-130J Hercules Canada is receiving – 17 planes in total – in the near future. The first plane was wheeled out of a paint plant in Georgia, and at 97 feet in length, with a wingspan of 132 feet, it’s no wonder they named this monster of a plane Hercules.

But what is really outstanding is the amount of paint and painters it took to make the CC-130J look the way it does in the picture below. A team of 12 painters applied 283 litres of paint over 17 days to bring this 82,000 pound aircraft up to par.
The Hercules can attain a cruising speed of 556 km per hour, and a maximum range of 7,222 km. It can also make short takeoffs and landings, even on unprepared runways.
Troop transport, tactical airlift and search and rescue are just a few of the many missions the Hercules will partake in.
These planes will be based out of 8 Wing Trenton, with the first delivery of the fleet arriving in June of this year.
